Microsoft Teams Error – Trouble Loading Your Messages

Description of the Issue

You may encounter this error message “We’re having trouble loading your messages. Try refreshing.” after signing in to the new Microsoft Teams app. You may have attempted to reset the app and have also tried reinstalling. If the action taken did not resolve this error message, you can try clearing the cache.

Instructions to clear Microsoft Teams cache files

  • Quit the Microsoft Teams app.
  • Open macOS Finder.
  • From the menu, select Go > Go to Folder to bring up the Go to Folder box. Go to the paths shown below.
  • Copy and paste the path below in the Go to Folder box, and press the Return key.
    • ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
    • Delete all the contents in the folder.
  • Copy and paste the path below in the Go to Folder box, and press the Return key.
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams
    • Delete all the contents in the folder.
  • Start Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.
  • Close the Microsoft Teams app.
  • Open Windows File Explorer.
  • Copy and paste the path below in the address bar, and press the Enter key.
    • %localappdata%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
    • Delete all the contents in the folder.
  • Start Microsoft Teams and sign in to your account.
